Get Your Flippers Wet and Explore the Best Reef Diving in Barbados!

Barbados’ rich history lends itself to some fascinating diving and snorkeling opportunities for visitors to explore, with a number of accessible sunken ship wrecks as well as a host of beautiful coral formations and marine life. Known as the "shipwreck capital of the Caribbean,” water sports reign supreme on Barbados’ scenic coasts.

On the West Coast, two designated snorkeling areas, both part of the Folkestone Marine Park, offer great reef diving with frequent sightings of turtles, rays and schooling fish. The South Coast’s best snorkeling area is the Carlisle Bay Marine Park, where diving is not as challenging, and the island’s facilities are excellent.  The most famous of the wrecks, is the Stavronikita, a 365 foot long Greek freighter, one the most popular dives in Barbados.

For South Coast diving, head to “DivePro Barbados”. Ideally located in the bay of popular St. Lawrence Gap, DivePro is within easy reach of the island’s best dive sites.  The PADI Scuba Center is open seven days a week and offers night diving on request.

On the West Coast, PADI trained staff provide professional and personal service at “Hightide Water Sports,” situated on the beach beside the Colony Club, a magnificently restored former gentlemen’s club of high quality and comfort.

Similarly, Caradonna Dive Adventures offers visitors a variety of ‘splashy’ vacation package deals with some of the finest hotels and resorts including Mango Bay, the Colony Club, Tamarind Cove and Bougainvillea.
